The Fiddlers' Frolics is held in Hallettsville, Texas every year during the fourth weekend in April. This year, the festival takes place the 24th - 27th of April 2008. Visitors can expect to see the world's best fiddlers compete over $20,000 in prizes, while master cooks take part in the Texas State Championship Barbeque Cook-Off. The 2nd Annual Songwriters' Serenade. Fifteen finalists will showcase their guitar and vocal abilities in original tunes, competing for $1,000 in prize money. Music fans, come enjoy this event on the covered pavilion Saturday, April 26. Admission is free. Also the "Anything Goes" fiddle contest on Friday night, April 25th. Twin fiddle, bowing tricks, or stand on your head while playing -- this competition is open to all fiddle players who want to entertain the audience with their artistry. Plus, you get to be the judge. The audience will select the winners to receive -- $300 for 1st, $200 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd . Following the event Friday is the popular "Cajun Fun Night." This year the Freshman fiddle contest starts at 9:00 AM Saturday. |
