Entry Fee: $10 per Entry Form. Up to two songs may be submitted per entry form (only two entries per contestant).

Entry Form: The Entry Form must be completed in full. Lyric sheets and a cassette or CD for each song submitted must be attached to the Entry Form.



1. Write the song title on each lyric sheet.

2. Do not write your name on lyric sheet or cassette / CD or case.

3. Mail your Entry Form, lyric sheets, cassette / CD, and fees in one package.

4. This contest is open to any amateur songwriter who has not earned more than $5,000 from songwriting-related royalties within the last five years.

5. A song is defined as a melody with lyrics. Songs may be no longer than five minutes in length.

6. Entries should be mailed to Texas Songwriters Serenade Entry, Fiddlers Frolics, P.O. Box 46, Hallettsville, Texas 77964. All entries must be received no later than April 10th, 2009. Neither Texas Songwriters Serenade nor Fiddlers Frolics is responsible for lost, damaged or misdirected entries or for the quality of the recording. Entry material will not be returned. Do not send your only copy.

7. Entrants agree that if their song is a winner, the promoters (Fiddlers Frolics and Texas Songwriters Serenade) will have the right to publicize the winners names and likenesses. By accepting the prize, winner releases Fiddlers Frolics and Texas Songwriters Serenade from any and all liability regarding prizes awarded.

8. Any contest entrant under the age of 18 years must provide express written consent to enter from parent or legal guardian.

9. Each entrant retains all rights to his or her submitted song.

10. Each entry will be listened to in its entirety. Contestants may have a maximum of one accompanist.

11. All entries will be considered. Submissions which have lyrics which are deemed inappropriate for family listening by the panel of judges shall be disqualified. Texas Songwriters Serenade is a family-friendly event.

12. On Friday evening April 24, songwriters will gather and showcase their original songs. Songwriters invited to perform will be notified of their qualifying entry and must be available to perform on Friday evening April 24 unless notified otherwise. Fifteen contestants will advance to the semifinals finals on Saturday, April 25.

13. Six finalists will be chosen based on their live performance of their entry song with the overall winner receiving $500 and the remaining five finalists receiving $100.
